It’s the new thing to do: The First Amendment Audit.
It works like this: an auditor takes a camera rig into a publicly-funded facility and makes YouTube gold when an obliging, uptight security guy, in uniform, proffers a heavy-handed response: “You’re not allowed to film in here!”
The auditor isn’t the least bit deterred by the officer’s aggressive posture. He knows the law better than the guard; in most cases, the guard doesn’t have the right to shut down camera in a taxpayer-funded facility.
The guard has the not-so-bright idea of following up on his initial ineffective, heavy-handed response with another bad idea: attempting to turn the tables on the auditor by taking out a phone, holding it up, and recording the auditor.
It’s an action which completely comprises the officer’s security posture and renders him with the gravitas of a kid in grade school.
The video describes the solution.
