This presentation is misleading and does not address the major cons of solar power.
Firstly solar only produces energy about 15% of the time . This is shown by the maths . CA has about 2500 daylight hours each year which would be the very maximum number of hours that solar could every produce power. The total hours in a year 8760 less 2500hrs = 28% of the time. Then take days/hours where there is weather conditions are unfavourable and low or no energy produced. Then there is the few hours at the start and finish of the day the solar production is minermal makes the total is closer to 15% of the time. The rest of the time almost no power is produced. Domestically there is only one way to store electric power and thats with batteries.
This Presentation eludes to battery storage as the SOLUTION to avoid having to buy Grid power at peak cost but says nothing of a massive change in household power usage and life style change that would be required to do this. To achieve not having to buy peak power would need huge battery storage to live how Californians live when connected to the grid. To run heavy draw appliances like Stoves and A/C needs a lot of power, so much so the battery bank would be prohibitive in cost.
