Technical specs – Ligier JS P3
Engine: 5.0 litre V8 VK50 by Nissan
Power: 420 hp

Geabox: 6-speed sequential by X-Trac

The chassis and bodywork of the LMP3 can be built by six manufacturers which have been designed by the ACO : Ginetta, Ligier, Adess, Dome, Riley and Norma. They are very close to those of the current LMP2 (closed cockpit, carbon chassis with tubular steel roll cage). The powertrain consist of a Nissan 420 bhp normally aspirated V8 engine, and an X-Trac gearbox. It is identical for all chassis, and marketed by the ORECA company which also provides specific assistance to teams.

I don’t get this. It looks like multiple races are taking place at the same time. One race among the speedy-looking mofos (and I guess that’s what LMP1 is), and another race with the more traditional-looking racing cars (which I guess is LMP2/3).

This is probably just a bunch of random cars of different classes on a practice track, which explains it, but there are different car classes in real races too, it seems.

i feel like lmp2 and lmp3 are underappreciated a lot
they still are crazy fast and sound way better than some diesel engine from an SUV

My only gripe with LMP3 is its carbon footprint. 5 litre V8 burns a lot of gas.

Looks like the old A1 ring

this looks just like driving the lmp cars in project cars! I am amazed with the realism in that game. And it’s soo cool to see the real thing too!

  20. Marco Brancorsini on October 6, 2020 at 5:22 pm

This is the Red Bull Ring, right?

  21. Tae Hyeon Jeong on October 6, 2020 at 5:23 pm

i’m surprised of how the cockpit visibility is shit. Must be really scary to drive in one of those. Nice video btw.

  24. ADHAiiN7 on October 6, 2020 at 5:28 pm

Wait, are those Touring Cars or GT cars? I’m confused

  25. 94XJ on October 6, 2020 at 5:28 pm

I honestly thought Nissan used flat planes in all their race v8s like the GTRs…it’s great to hear a ripping cross-plane crank!!

  26. Kras Silver Fang on October 6, 2020 at 5:29 pm

Oh wow, the visibility in those cars is pretty shit

  27. I don’t Know on October 6, 2020 at 5:31 pm

  30. Car Fan on October 6, 2020 at 5:35 pm

Great sound. But one question: Why do you hold 5th gear instead of shifting into 6th gear?
